99年に渡米、2000年からギターリストとしてBeat Pharmacyに参加。3枚のBeat Pharmacyのアルバムに参加しつつShigeru Tanabu名義の活動も始め、現在までにWave Music, Apt.International等から独自の解釈のテックハウストラックを数々リリース。2009年からはダブステップに強く影響されたプロジェクトSolid State Soulとしても活動を開始しFields EPをリリース、2010年11月にはAZZURROとのプロジェクトAZZXSSSのアルバムDeepsketchをHYDRA Recordsよりリリース。国内外のコアなクラバーから高く評価される。
また2010年２月には盟友Brendon Moellerとの新たなプロジェクトManabooも始動。Brendon主催のSteadfast Recordsからリリースされた1st EP "UNHUH"はジャズ、ディスコ、ベルリンダブ、ダブステップ等を絶妙にミックスしたサウンドで、Laurent Garnier, Jeff Mills、Funk D Void、Ed Davenport、Shur-l-kan等著名DJから絶賛される。2010年12月にはブリストルのダブステップ名門レーベルImmerse RecodsよりDelinquent EPをリリース予定。現在は札幌を拠点にDJ/Producerとして、Undertone RecordingsのA&Rとして多忙な日々を過ごす。
North part of Japan, Sapporo based Japanese DJ/Producer Shigeru Tanabu is also known as an A&R at Undertone Recordings.
Newly arrived in NYC to look for his new start, he had met Brendon Moeller and immediately started to play guitar on "Beat Pharmacy". After 1st Beat Pharmacy album released, he started to produce music and put out several tracks on one of top dance music labels to this date such as Wave Music and Apt. International.
Now he is working on several new projects under his moniker "Solid State Soul" for dubstep based and "Manaboo" to produce unique jazzy tech dub disco with Brendon Moeller.
